Emergency Storm Damage in Springfield Illinois
Storms happen and the Sutton’s Emergency Storm team is at your service when you need us the most.
What to do when your roofing & siding suffers from storm damage
Immediately after making sure everyone in the home is safe and secure, a call to your insurance provider is warranted. Then give us a call at 217.528.3911.
We have an emergency services line that is monitored 24/7/365. If you leave your name and number and a brief message, one of our team members will call you back. If you are able, take some photos of the damage if you have adequate light. Don’t risk injury by climbing up on a ladder. Stay calm, we will be there as soon as we can get there and make sure your home is weather tight.
Hail Damage
Sutton’s has been working with insurance companies for nearly as long as we have been in business.
Once it is determined that your home has sustained hail damage, an adjuster from your insurance company will need to come out and verify the damage. In some instances, insurance companies will rely on photos and an estimate from a contractor like Sutton’s to determine the damage estimate or scope of work.
Do I have to get Three Estimates?
Some insurance companies will ask you to get three estimates. That is based on the fact that they want to spend the least amount possible like any for profit business. That doesn’t mean you have to get three estimates if you are happy working with a particular contractor. There is no law or rule stating three estimates are mandatory. Our role in any hail damage claim is to get your house back to the condition it was in prior to the storm. We can work with the insurance company on your behalf to make sure all of the damage is covered properly in accordance with the insurance coverage you paid for. We do that ethically and have earned a solid reputation with the biggest insurance carriers in the country.
My Insurance Company is not Covering the Damage
In the case of an older roof, there are times where the insurance company will prorate the insurance claim based on the condition or age of the roof prior to the storm. There is nothing Sutton’s or any other contractor can do about that. We do not engage in deceptive practices. What is covered is determined by your individual policy and between you and the insurance carrier. Our price may be more than what the insurance company is willing to pay based on your coverage.
Wind Damage
When high winds blow parts of our roofing or siding away, Sutton’s Emergency Storm Services Team can help.
We can come out and place a tarp over the area affected and protect your property from any further damage. Our process is simple. We will ask you to sign an insurance authorization or contract for temporary services. Then, once your property is secure, we will wait for the insurance adjuster to come and have a look before repairing or replacing anything. Pictures are always very valuable. Take as many pictures as you can so that you can document the damage the wind caused.
Tree Damage
Tree Damage can be very dangerous. The Sutton’s Emergency Storm Services Team can help.
When you have a tree or part of a tree fall on your home, it is important to make sure everyone is safe first. Moving people safely away from the damaged area is always the first order of business. Some trees can damage a home to the point where the roof can actually cave in. So again, try to get away from the damaged area and stay away until a professional can have a look. The next step is to call someone to remove the tree itself. Sutton’s does not offer tree removal services. Once the tree is removed, we can do everything it will take to secure your home with temporary bracing and tarps so that no further damage will occur. We can work with your insurance provider and provide a damage estimate.
